The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued a fresh vacancy circular for the appointment of Chairperson, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

“Applications are invited to fill up the post of Chairperson, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI),” reads the circular while adding the Chairperson of the FSSAI performs such duties and functions and exercises such powers as prescribed under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the Rules and Regulations made there under, and the Head Office of the FSSAI is in Delhi.
The circular added, “The earlier advertisement published in Employment News dated 17.07.2021 stands cancelled and the candidates applied for the post against the said advertisement shall apply for the post afresh.”

The circular added that the application in prescribed format must reach the Health Ministry within 45 days of the date of publication of the circular in the Employment News. The closing date of receipt of application will be the 45th day from the date of publication of advertisement in the Employment News.

The post of the Chairperson FSSAI was lying vacant since the retirement of Rita Teaotia in October 2021 except some interim appointments. Rita Teaotia joined as Chairperson, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India on Nov 28, 2018
