The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has awarded Farrukhabad Jail, 5-star rating for food quality. The food is served to over 1000 inmates lodged in the District Jail in Fatehgarh.

This achievement by the jail, coincides with the occasion of completing 75 years of the country’s Independence.

The criteria by which FSSAI judged the jail include hygiene, procurement of quality food products from FSSAI-certified outlets, as well as cleanliness of members of the staff.

The jail has shifted from conventional methods of cooking to using machines for preparing rotis, kneading dough and chopping vegetables.

The certificate awarded to the jail by FSSAI, which is valid until August 2024, reads, “District Jail Fatehgarh, Farrukhabad is certified as Eat Right Campus as per guidelines established by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.
