The FSSAI has asked laboratories to use the manual of methods of analysis approved by the food authority for tea, coffee and chicory, and the manual shall be used by the laboratories with immediate effect.

Similarly the manual of methods of analysis for fish & fish products was also approved by the FSSAI and the approved manual shall be used by the laboratories with immediate effect.

“It supersedes the test methods for fish and fish products specified under the Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods-Meat and Meat Products & Fish and Fish Products issued vide Office Order No. 1-90/FSSAI/SP (MS&A)/2009 dated 09.01.2017,”reads an order issued by the FSSAI.

G Kamala Vardhana Rao, CEO, FSSAI, has said that the manual of methods of analysis is a comprehensive guide that serves as an invaluable resource for food testing laboratories, researchers and quality control professionals, food technologists and anyone involved in the analysis of tea, coffee, chicory and fish & fish products.

“This manual has been meticulously crafted to offer a wide range of analytical methods specifically tailored for tea, coffee, chicory and fish & fish products. It encompasses various aspects of analysis as per FSSR and the laboratories shall use these testing methods only for analysing samples under the FSS Act 2006 and rules made thereunder,” he said.

The FSSAI expects the manuals to serve as a catalyst for scientific advancements, quality assurance, and consumer safety.
