Union Food Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras has encouraged the idea of globalising Indian foods. He wants Indian foods to be served on dining tables across the world. This is because everyone is aware of how rich and diverse the country’s culinary culture is. So, the main point is why it should not be a worldwide choice.

With this approach, Mr Paras advised to collaborate among stakeholders, including chefs, exporters, and the government, to promote Indian dishes globally. This will help get India’s aromatic spices and unique flavours huge recognition. If we are able to export processed and ready-to-eat products, it will be an edge, as there is already a huge demand for the same. This is what the government is also working for—defining quality standards and boosting visibility.

Mr Paras also pointed out that India’s spices, rice, and tea are already well-represented in the world, which is the current strength. So now, we need more such products that can perform the same way and can contribute to the diverse portfolio country required to reach this goal.

A common way to do so is to leverage branding and storytelling accordingly. This is how India can establish its authenticity and make people aware of health benefits internationally.

Overall, this approach will allow India to get a separate niche market worldwide.
