Maverick & Farmer, the artisanal coffee brand, is thrilled to announce the upcoming Friends of the Farmer session on 18th and 19th October, at their Ulsoor and Koramangala Cafe respectively. This time around, the spotlight will be on farmer Bopanna I B, the founder of CHOMBUKA Coorg Coffee Co.
Bopanna’s family-owned Sampigehalla and Athikaad Estates, located in the Coorg region, are celebrated for their rich coffee heritage and sustainable farming practices. In this session, participants will have the opportunity to connect directly with Bopanna and immerse themselves in the story behind the Sampigehalla Estate. The session, curated by Sreeram G, Co-founder of Maverick & Farmer, provides a platform for local farmers to showcase their craft, highlighting not only the rich flavours of their coffee but also the importance of sustainable farming methods.
The event promises an intimate coffee experience, where attendees will get to engage with the farmer, taste coffees from the estate, and learn about the meticulous processes behind the cultivation and preparation of these distinct varieties.
The session will feature two popular brewing methods: Espresso and Pour-Over, allowing participants to savour the coffees in different forms and fully appreciate their rich flavours. The sustainable practices employed by Sampigehalla Estate ensure that each cup of coffee reflects the harmony between tradition and environmental responsibility.
Sampigehalla and Athikaad Estates have a long-standing legacy, dating back over 150 years, and are known for their exceptional green coffee portfolio under the Chombuka Brand, including: Washed Arabica, Natural Arabica, Washed Robusta and Natural Robusta. Each variety is carefully hand-harvested and processed using a thoughtful combination of manual and mechanical methods, resulting in unique flavors that coffee enthusiasts and connoisseurs will love.
