South Korea’s Lotte Group is about to invest $300 million for its expansion in India’s snack market. These funds will be allocated gradually over the next five years. They will introduce various Korean snack brands to Indian consumers. They are starting it with the popular brand Pepero in July 2025.

They have some bigger plans and this move is just a reflection of the same. Some offerings are beyond their current portfolio, where Choco Pie and Havmor ice cream-like items are major examples. Plus, they will also enter segments like snacks, cakes, biscuits, and cookies. It means the Indian confectionery market is also their target.

Paul Yi, CEO of Lotte Wellfood, says, “As India develops, I think it’s time we have access to more world-class K food, K pop, and K snacks.” He also highlighted how Korean culture is making its place in food, music, and entertainment throughout the world.

While introducing new products, Lotte will also focus on improving their manufacturing capacity. We can see they have already inaugurated their new ice cream manufacturing plant in Pune by investing around ₹500 crore.

Overall, their entry into the Indian snack market is an indication of how much growth area and potential we still have even after having so much competition within brands.
