If we talk about Coca-Cola, the company was launched by Ramesh Chauhan in 1970s. They acquired Maaza in 1993. The years passed and the overall brand became a huge name in India. Especially, Maaza gained popularity for its authentic mango taste.
This was only a few days ago when Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company, James Quincey, emphasized the brand’s success. “In India, our business rebounded nicely during the quarter, and we grew volume… Maaza is now our 30th billion-dollar brand,” he stated.
Coca-Cola’s Indian operations are going very well. They also sold a 40% stake of their India subsidiary, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, to the Jubilant Bhartia Group in the same period. With this move, they primarily want to optimize their bottling operations in the country.
Overall, the way Maaza has reached this milestone shows how potentially regional beverages can contribute to the global portfolios.
