Food delivery platform Zomato claims to have achieved 28 million monthly order run rate as of December 2018. This month the hike is up from the 21 million monthly orders as it claimed in October 2018. This is significant bump from the last month.
Zomato has refused to state its actual figures. Whereas the all time business rival of Zomato , Swiggy, is said to have clocked in 28 million monthly orders in absolute terms. These two players in food delivery portals have been continuously chasing each other in this market. They have always surprised customers with their experiments with their services and different offerings. They look to outdo each other to get ahead in the race.
Zomato also claimed that its dine-in subscription service Zomato Gold had 700K members and over 6,000 restaurant partners, while its reward programme Piggybank had 1.5 Mn subscribers, as of December 2018.
Zomato has gained 40 percent during the fiscal year through March 2018 that turns out to be rupees 466 crores. Whereas Swiggy has registered revenue of rupees 442 crore and posted a loss of Rs 397 crore.
In the past one year, both Swiggy and Zomato have also started a slew of new initiatives to go beyond food deliveries.
