A US based establishment Johnsonville recalls 95000 pounds of its sausage as it may be contaminated

A US based food processing establishment, Johnsonville, LLC, has recalled approximately 95,300 pounds of its ready-to-eat jalapeño cheddar smoked sausage products which are rumored to be contaminated with hard green plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today, after a customer complaint.

The jalapeño cheddar smoked sausage products,manufactured on March 12th and 13th, 2019, are now being recalled. The specific item to be recalled is the – 14-oz. “Johnsonville JALAPEÑO CHEDDAR Smoked Sausage” with a “Best By 06/09/2019” date on the ready-to-eat sausage pack.

The items that were shipped nationally and internationally are marked with the number “EST. 34224” for the USDA mark of inspection.

The issue was realised when the company received a call from consumer complaint, regarding green hard plastic in the product and notified FSIS about it.

No confirmed reports have come up until now about any adverse reactions to the products.

The FSIS has expressed concern over these items still being in consumers’ possession. The consumers are requested not to consume them.
