Mustard is no longer for just dressing your hot dog or hamburger. It will soon be available as an ice cream flavor.
Food company French’s announced Wednesday that it will introduce mustard-flavored ice cream, part of a partnership with the dessert company Coolhaus.
French’s and Coolhaus are launching the ice cream Saturday to commemorate National Mustard Day.
“It’s been so fun to explore this classic condiment in a whole new way and create an unforgettable thoughtfully-crafted ice cream flavor with an All-American taste,” said Coolhaus CEO and founder Natasha Case.
The ice cream, which will be served with a pretzel cookie, is only available for a limited time in the New York and Los Angeles areas.
The Coolhaus shop in Culver City, California, will have the flavor available Aug. 2-4 and Aug. 9-11. On the East Coast, a French’s ice cream truck will offer the mustard ice cream at some locations throughout New York:
If you’re feeling adventurous, French’s parent company, McCormick, offers a recipe to try at home.
Ice cream makers have been experimenting with more savory ingredients in their flavors, from bacon to turmeric. There’s even mayo and ketchup favoured ice cream.
