Country Delight, the farm to door fresh milk and dairy products delivery start-up, has raised around $7-10 million in its Series B funding round led by Matrix Partners.
The Gurugram based milk start-up use to source milk directly from the farm, eliminating the middlemen and allowing farmers to earn a premium. It also has a cold chain and quality testing infrastructure at the farmer’s location.
Country Delight was founded in 2013 by IIM-Indore alumni Chakradhar Gade and Nitin Kaushal offers subscription-based milk and dairy products delivery via a mobile app. Currently operational in Delhi- NCR, Mumbai, and Pune, Country Delight claims to test its product on 75 parameters by an FSSAI-accredited lab. New Delhi based Farmery and iOrganic in Gurugram also aim to provide fresh, unadulterated milk through their farm networks. Country Delight is the biggest player in this area that supplies over of 15,000 litres of milk on daily basis.
Earlier Matrix has invested in Dailyninja, this time it is the second bet for Matrix in the milk-tech segment. The Dailyninja delivers milk as well as other daily essentials.
The competitor for the company in terms of seed investment is Doodhwala that has received a seed investment of $2.2 million from Omnivore in February, last year. Now, it would be interesting to track how these players turn the business into a win-win deal for all stakeholders including farmers and investors.
