The Coca-Cola Company, through its Venturing & Emerging Brands unit, has launched a new range of alcohol-free adult sparkling drinks in the US.
Coca-Cola has conceived this idea only ten months ago and now the company is aggressively working on the production part to get Bar Nøne drinks appearing on shelves, with the tagline “all the spirit without the spirits”.
These bottled drinks contain between 70 and 130 calories and are sweetened with juice blends or cane sugar. They are available on four variants are available; spiced ginger mule; bellini spritz; dry aged cider; and sangria.
Coca-Cola said the idea for Bar Nøne hatched during an at-work conversation about the lack of flavourful substitutes for spirits.
Sabrina Tandon, Bar Nøne general manager said, “We talked about not wanting to drink as often, or as much, as we had before. We wanted something we could actually look forward to enjoying as much as an alcoholic drink – something sippable and savour-able.”
This isn’t the first time Coca-Cola has branched into the adult drink industry. Earlier also in June 2018, the iconic brand has launched an alcoholic drink in Japan, similar to an alco-pop. That was made with a local spirit, sparkling water and fruit flavours. The low-alcohol drink comes in ABV 3%, 5% and 8% versions.
The Coca-Cola company is also looking into the CBD trend, and in future also it might bring out a range of cannabis drinks.
