Iconic dairy brand of China, Yili has acquired Thialand’s largest domestic ice cream company, Chomthana. This acquisition would be beneficial for the Chinese brand Yili to achieve global growth and to accelerate its internationalization in dairy.
Chromthana is well known domestic ice cream and frozen food distributor in Thailand. Its products range from ice cream, bread and dessert.
Yili is frequently boosting its internationalization process in the year 2018. Initially, it upgraded the European Innovation Center in cooperation with Wageningen University in the Global Dairy Mount Everest. After that its products were listed on the Indonesia market to share the Yili quality with Indonesian consumers. And then the overseas acquisitions of Thailand’s largest domestic ice cream company was announced.
Pan Gang, president of Yili Group, said, “Enterprises should gather global energy, insist on continuous innovation, and use global high-quality resources to serve consumers better.”
The deal between Yili and Chomthana is expected to fully utilize complementary advantages between China and Thailand, giving full play to strategic synergies and a step closer to “a healthy world for all”.
The continuous expansion of Yili to overseas channels has led the Chinese dairy industry to go global under the Belt and Road Initiative, accelerating the flow of high-quality resources in the global industrial chain, according to Chen Yu, a senior dairy analyst. He also said that Yili’s internationalization drive will have a positive impact on the development of the global dairy industry and will fuel the development of China’s dairy industry as well as the global dairy industry.
The acquisition of Chomthana will further enhance Yili’s performance and deepen the cooperation of the global dairy industry, says the company.
