Kraft Heinz, which divested its consumer brands business to Ahmedabad-based Zydus Wellness and its parent Cadila Healthcare fot 4,595 crore last month, will bring in some of its global brands to India in the coming months, the company’s India managing director, Sankalp Potbhare, told ET.

After the sale of Complan malt beverage, Glucon-D glucose powder, Nycil talcum powder and Sampriti ghee, the company’s India arm only has Heinz ketchup as a brand of some significance. Globally, the world’s fifth largest food & beverage company, Kraft Heinz has a portfolio of over 200 brands including Capri Sun juices, Maxwell House coffee and Jell-O cake mixes and desserts. In India, though, it has remained a marginal player.

Kraft Heinz, which operates in the country through its subsidiary Heinz India, declined to mention names of brands it was looking to bring in. “India is an important market, and we will look at strengthening our brands in the long run,” Potbhare said. “The recent sale of our niche business fits in with our overall global growth strategy and our focus on investing in and growing brands within our core categories.

We are betting big on the Indian market as it offers immense growth potential from a value and volume perspective,” Potbhare said, adding that India has ‘always been a key market for Kraft Heinz’. Along with the brands , it also sold off two manufacturing facilities in Aligarh and Sitarganj. “India is an important market, and we will look at strengthening our brands in the long run,” Potbhare said. “The recent sale of our niche business fits in with our overall global growth strategy and our focus on investing in and growing brands within our core categories.
